Who goes where in the Outstanding Tiny Desk clip
The tiny desk outstanding clip has five shots. This table shows which photo appears in each one, so you know who to put on lead and who gets the sax.
| Shot | Time | On screen | Your photo |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opening line | 0:00–0:01 | Lead singer side-on at the mic, turning to the band | Photo 1 (lead) |
| Band shot | 0:01–0:07 | Keys player at the red keyboard, the two backup singers swaying behind | Keys and both backup seats (band mode); AI performers in empty seats |
| The laugh | 0:07–0:13 | Close-up of the lead singer's huge laugh and wave | Photo 1 (lead) |
| Sax solo | 0:13–0:16 | Sax player in profile, keys player passing in the corner | Sax seat (band mode); an AI performer if it is empty |
| Fists up | 0:16–0:19 | The band shot again, a backup singer throws a fist in the air | Keys and both backup seats (band mode) |
The 13-second length ends on the hard cut after the laugh, so it shows only the lead singer's part. Band mode is always the full 19 seconds and costs the same with 1 or 5 photos. For a duo, fill the lead and the sax; for a trio, add the keys.
How to make an Outstanding Tiny Desk AI video
- 1
Pick lead singer or band
Lead singer takes one photo. Band takes up to five: whoever sings lead, then any of the keys, the two backup singers and the sax. Leave a seat empty and an AI performer plays it.
- 2
Add clear, front-facing photos
One person per photo, eyes visible, even light. A smiling photo helps the laugh close-up look like them.
- 3
Choose length, model and resolution
13 s or 19 s, then a model. The credit price updates before you press the button.
- 4
Download the MP4
The video renders in a few minutes with the song already in sync. Download it and post it to TikTok, Reels or the group chat.

What is the Tiny Desk AI trend? The tiny desk concert meme, explained
The Tiny Desk AI trend (also called the Outstanding Tiny Desk meme or the All-Loss Tiny Desk) recasts the last 19 seconds of Charlie Wilson's NPR Tiny Desk concert, published on June 5, 2023. Wilson, the former lead singer of The Gap Band, closes the set with "Outstanding", the band's 1982 hit: a side-on opening line, a band shot, a huge laugh, a sax solo and the band again.
On October 18, 2026 a TikTok account posted "College Football's Week 8 All-Loss Tiny Desk Concert", putting AI versions of that week's losing college football head coaches into the band, with one of them on the sax. It passed two million views within a week.
Within days it became a format: NFL versions for each weekend's losing teams (from October 23), a Dallas Cowboys legends version and one-photo templates (from October 24), and a political version posted by the White House (reported October 27). Every Saturday and Sunday brings new losers, so the meme keeps coming back.
Fact sources:
- Charlie Wilson: Tiny Desk Concert (NPR Music on YouTube, the Outstanding part starts at 23:46)
- The first All-Loss Tiny Desk Concert on TikTok (October 18, 2026)
- Economic Times on the White House version (October 27, 2026)
This site is not affiliated with NPR, Tiny Desk, Charlie Wilson or The Gap Band. Every video it makes is an AI parody, not concert footage.
Tiny desk ai songs: the tiny desk meme song
The song in every Tiny Desk AI video is "Outstanding" by The Gap Band (1982), sung live by Charlie Wilson at the end of his 2023 Tiny Desk. Your video keeps that exact ending, laid back in sync with the five shots, so the laugh lands on the same beat as the original.
Outstanding Tiny Desk AI template vs a generic tiny desk concert AI template
Two kinds of tools use the Tiny Desk name. Some recreate the real Outstanding cut; others make a new performance in a desk-concert-style room with original music. You can also edit the clip yourself in a general video editor.
| Way to make it | Shots and timing | Song | Effort | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| This generator | The five Outstanding shots and cuts | "Outstanding", in sync | Upload 1–5 photos, press one button | From 72–105 credits a video |
| Generic Tiny Desk-style template | A new desk-concert scene, its own shots | Usually original music | Upload a photo, maybe write a prompt | Varies |
| DIY in Seedance, Kling, Runway or Higgsfield | Possible, needs the source clip and per-shot edits | Add it back yourself | Prompting, retries, editing | Platform credits per attempt |
Posting it: tiny desk ai live posts, songs, captions and sponsors
People post these with captions like "Week 9 All-Loss Tiny Desk" or "our fantasy league's last place, live at the Tiny Desk", and tags such as #outstandingtinydesk, #tinydeskai and #outstanding. The joke works best when the person on lead is the one who lost. If a platform mutes the song, use the silent copy and add the track in the app.
Label it as AI. Each video is a parody of a real concert, so add "AI parody" or TikTok's AI-generated label, especially for versions with public figures. Don't present it as a real NPR appearance.
Tiny desk ai sponsor deals and ads are a different story: the song and the original concert are not licensed for advertising, so keep these videos to personal, non-commercial posts.
Tiny Desk AI FAQ
Is Tiny Desk AI real concert footage, or an AI face swap?
Neither, exactly. The video is generated from scratch by an AI video model, following the motion, framing and cuts of the viral Outstanding clip, with your photo as the person on lead. It is not NPR footage, and no one in it actually performed at the Tiny Desk.
Does this use the real Outstanding clip, or just a Tiny Desk-style background?
The real Outstanding cut: the same five shots and hard cuts as the viral video (opening line, band, laugh close-up, sax solo, band again) and the same ending of "Outstanding". The room, the shelves and the red keyboard stay as they are in the clip; only the people change to you and your friends.
Can I make it on my iPhone or Android phone without an app?
Yes. Open the site in Safari or Chrome, pick a photo from your camera roll and press the button. When it finishes, tap Download; the MP4 saves to Files or your gallery, ready for TikTok or Reels.
Is there an iOS app for the Outstanding Tiny Desk AI trend?
You don't need one. This generator runs in the browser on iPhone and iPad, and most people making the trend use websites rather than an App Store app.
What does one Tiny Desk AI video cost?
On Seedance 2.0 Mini at 480p: 72 credits for 13 seconds or 105 credits for the full 19 seconds, about $0.72 and $1.05. Higher models and resolutions cost more; the full table is above. Packs start at $4.99.
Can I post it with the original Charlie Wilson audio?
The video includes the song so it plays like the meme, and every result also comes as a silent copy. TikTok often links the upload to the original sound; Instagram may mute a Reel with copyrighted audio, in which case post the silent copy and add the song from Instagram's music library. It is a fan parody for personal posts, not something you can license for ads.
What happens to the photos I upload?
They are used only to make your video: stored in this site's storage, sent to the AI video provider that renders it, and not used to train models here. Only upload photos of people who agreed to it; you can ask support to delete your files.
Who should I cast on the sax and the keys?
Put the person the joke is about on lead: they get the opening line and the laugh close-up. In band mode, give the sax solo to the second-biggest loser (it is the shot people replay), the keys to whoever sits in the middle of the group, and the two backup seats to the hype crew. Any seat you leave empty is played by an AI performer.
Where can I watch the original Charlie Wilson Tiny Desk?
NPR Music's YouTube channel has the full concert; the Outstanding ending starts at about 23:46. The first All-Loss Tiny Desk Concert was posted on TikTok on October 18, 2026. Both links are in the trend section above.
How can I tell a real NPR Tiny Desk from an AI parody?
Check NPR Music's own channels: every real Tiny Desk is published there. AI parodies reuse the exact Outstanding framing with different faces, often with warped hands or instruments, and usually carry an AI label or a caption about the losing team.
Who's singing lead this week?
One photo, a few minutes, and your group chat gets its own Outstanding Tiny Desk.
